Old Charlie, 1927, was the actual source of the notorious (to a folklorist) “Seeger, Paley, Cohen & Guard” song-credit on Kingston Trio “Goin' Places”, And he'd gotten it from a showtune of some kind which had added a "Frankie & Johnny" Chorus
(Mike Seeger, Tom Paley, and John Cohen were the original New Lost City Ramblers, who’d recorded it in a nearly verbatim rendition
....except that the NLCR also had some inflections from this Charlie Poole Jr. 1937 recording
(and then suddenly)...

An example of Charlie's later sound, better recorded, and more 'uptown' and violinistic
Banjo-innovator-eclecticist-modernist Charlie Poole, 1892-1931, is a strong candidate for the fun game of reincarnational-as-ifs. This guy here isn't even my first or second choice for that in this instance, but the clip will serve to introduce the topic..... "New-Agey-Channelling" at a minimum?
