Almost but not quite - (did Tommy Makem ever cartwheel or somersault onto the stage?).
In 1929 Charlie Poole brought his entire touring band north for his NYC sessions, but Columbia only wanted his classic three-instrument configuration. So they did that session but then went crosstown to another label or two for “Charlie’s Bluegrass Flash-Forward”. You can all but hear Bill Monroe’s rhythm chops….. Kenny Baker & a guest twinning on fiddles…. the banjo-picker steps up…...
