My gosh, there's so many highlights on our Kingston's third studio recording, but for now,
I'll stick with Dave Guard's haunting solo: "San Miguel"
I remember on the original BROTHERS FOUR IN PERSON album (rel: 1962/Columbia Records) Mike Kirkland performed
a very funny satire of "San Miguel." I can't find Mike's audio on YouTube so here are the words:
Down by the Mission San Miguel is a great house
Where in dwell Don Carlos and La Dona Maria Elena Cantrell.
I work at the ranch. I hold her chair.
I carry her books, boxes, her galoshes, her overcoat, the garbage can, and boy do I have a handful.
She says...
Hi there Manuel. Got a match por fav-oor?
Or - Don't drop anything. You'll get fired, ha ha.
I work at the ranch. I work without pay.
She calls me a wetback and threatens to send me away.
She says...
Where's your passport, Manuel?
You don't have one, do you?
Or - Manuel brush your teeth, or stand the hell down wind.
But I see in her eyes what her heart seems to say.
It says...get lost Manuel.
I don't like the ranch. I don't like the work.
I don't like Don Carlos, Maria, or none of those jerks.
They say...
To the stables, Manuel.
And Manuel hurry up...to the stables, Manuel.
There is work piling up.

Note: Rumors have it that Dave Guard wrote the spoof much to the dismay of Jane Bowers who wrote the original.
For reasons of political corectness, subsequent copies of THE BROTHERS FOUR IN PERSON on LP & CD excluded Mike Kirkland's parody
of "San Miguel" and replaced this song with "Summertime". [I hate political correctness]
ORIGINAL VERSION OF "SAN MIGUEL" SUNG BY DAVE GUARD:
- Larry Keenan
