I'll betcha someone here has a bit of info on Jane Bowers.
Here's why. I've been booked for a gig at a local theatre, next January called "Song writers in the round"
They do this a few times each year. They'll have a show with , usually three song writers, sometimes local, sometimes touring,. It's a round robin thing each writer gets a turn (usually 7 or 8 times)to play one of their own songs and tell a story or description on that song. Almost always these things are well done and entertaining.
The fella that's the "Honcho" for this venue ask me to be part of the event, knowing I've NEVER written a song in my life!
I asked him if I was the comedy relief or what? He explained that he's seen me at gigs over the years and appreciates the fact that I'll wander from genre to genre and it "Seems" I have a lot of info and history on different writers from different era's yada yada yada.
I'll have 7 0r 8 turns at the mic and will do songs written by folks such as "Fats Waller", of course "John Stewart", "Dorothy Fields", "Leiber Stoller", Isham Jones, and so on.
I've chosen "San Miguel" a beauteous, haunting melody by Jane Bowers. We've heard wonderful renditions by both Dave Guard and George Grove. There's even one by yours truly on You Tube.
Having said all that, I have a plethora of info on the others but pretty much nothing on Jane Bowers.
Any and all info from Y'all will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance TC
