It so happens that I did read something Sylvia Tyson posted on the internet after Ian's passing on Dec 29 2022:
"Ian was a serious and very versatile songwriter. He put a lot of time and energy into his songwriting and felt his material very strongly, especially the whole cowboy lifestyle.
Ian always found himself very drawn to the frontier."

As a huge fan of IAN & SYLVIA, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Ian Tyson. {December 29th, 2022}
The entire country of Canada seems to be depressed right now.
Apparently, Ian had been struggling with health issues and heart problems for the past decade. Even lost his voice.
