So Susan, seems like Ian Tyson did not want to talk about his early days singing with Sylvia Fricker. Said he didn't want to live in the past. Fair enough! However, Ian and Sylvia did get married and stayed married for about 10 years. But Ian kept his former girlfriend, Evinia Pulos, in his life even though he wrote to her in 1960 saying he wouldn't be coming back. In fact, Four Strong Winds was written specifically for Ms Pulos 2 years later in Albert Grossman's NY apartment. When Sylvia was asked about Evinia, she never held back.
"Evinia Pulos was the third person in our marriage."

Sad to hear about Ian Tyson's passing. He lived til 89 years of age yet in 2008 when Ian reached 75, he said "I can't figure out how I got to be 75. I think there was a miscalculation somewhere.
I really do." A bunch of us saw Ian Tyson perform back then at Ram's Head On Stage in Annapolis, Maryland. He came out to to greet his fans and was very likeable. Ian made it abundantly clear he had no interest revisiting those early days singing with Sylvia. "I don't want to live in the past."

So here it is and here we are. Ian Tyson didn't even make it to 2023. Struggling with bad health for ten years or more. And sadly, years ago, Ian had to shoot a horse (Barney) that meant so much to him. Old age, illness, pandemics, and who knows what else? Music has been known to help heal our wounds, but in reality-
