Reason being, waaaaay back in July 1962, when I telephoned Capitol Records of Canada in Montreal,
asking what the latest album of The Kingston Trio was...the nice lady on the phone told me "Something Special"....
>>> "Just Got Released Today" <<<
I called up several Montreal record stores and nobody had it.
So what did I do? I grabbed my wallet (which had about $10 for doing odd jobs in our neighbourhood and delivering The Montreal Star)....
plus several kids bus tickets {6 cents each}
I took lotsa buses to Capitol Records on Port Royal Street....where I ended up buying "Something Special".
It wasn't easy!
At first the lady sitting at the front told me Capitol Records only sold to stores and not to people.
Then I burst out crying, telling her I came all the way from across town. The lady stood up and said....
"Don't cry, little boy. Since you came such a long way, I'll see what I can do."
The lady opened a door which had a sign saying "No Admittance" and came back out holding the album "Something Special" in her hands.
It cost me $4.20 / I gave her a $5 bill and she gave me some change.
Like you, Max...I love the LP and agree it's got the best album cover of all Kingston Trio albums.

Bruce ........
You're right about the bass players. Allan Shaw's book confirms it.
But ..........
Wow !!!
The sight of that album makes me sooooooo
Happy.
One of the best covers ever.
I still have my stripped shirt that's very similar.
A great time.
I loved this album.... Still do.
One More Town was my favorite Trio song forever.
Probably still is.
Max
