Re: O Willow Waly
John Stewart did not have an easy time during Something Special. I'm not saying it affected his voice or anything. Not only did manager Frank Werber chew him out for tampering with Jimmy Haskell's orchestration tapes, but Bob Shane and Nick Reynolds blamed John for their album "Close Up" not reaching #1 on the top selling record charts. I read somewhere that John Stewart considered leaving the Kingston Trio and joining his pal John Phillips on the Journeymen. Apologies were in order and thank goodness everything settled down. Frank Werber told John the trio could not afford another breakup.
I always liked "O Willow Waly" but felt John Stewart was painfully struggling with his lead vocal. Still and all, it came across as a fine song.
I recall seeing "The Innocents" a long time ago and if you ask me, Deborah Kerr should've stayed in Siam and take her chances with the King!
