whereas Bob Nick and Frank grumbled. Then there was that fiasco on 'Something Special" whereby Frank Werber told John straight out that he was out of line
tampering with Jimmy Haskell's tapes.
It's no coincidence that the follow up album to 'Something Special' was a John Stewart album. An apology, if you will, to keep John on board.
Note the album title "New Frontier" based on John Stewart's song and devotion to President Kennedy's Inaugural Address.
And don't forget the second song which follows "Greenback Dollar" on Side 1 is a strong lead vocal by John Stewart: "Some Fool Made A Soldier Of Me"
They wanted him to STAY! Apology accepted.
What I remember a long time ago that it didn't reach #1 , John thought that was pretty good, but Frank Werber expressed an opinion (maybe to him) that it wasn't #1.
Where'd you get .....
Bob Shane and Nick Reynolds blamed John for their album "Close Up" not reaching #1 on the top selling record charts.
I never heard that before.
