and felt he had a money-maker in releasing both the GUARD TRIO & STEWART TRIO.
(he didn't have to like them)
>>> And Richard Weize Did A Super Job <<<
As far as the "post Kingston Trio" Box Set is concerned, once Collectors Choice Music (under Gordon Anderson)
released DAVE GUARD & THE WHISKYHILL SINGERS ---
and Folk-Era Records (under Allan Shaw) released post '67 KINGSTON TRIO CDs ---
as well as JOHN STEWART solo albums ---
Richard Weize decided to drop the idea of any more KINGSTON TRIO Bear Family Box Sets.
Besides, Richard Weize had an ego bigger than Alaska.
When Rolling Stones Mag asked him how BEAR FAMILY RECORDS became so big ---
Richard Weize snapped back:
"In the music business out there, American Companies don't give a damn about what they're doing.
Everything is mass-produced, without care and without proper quality control.
Bear Family Records is on top of our game and unique because like in a jungle filled with blind animals ---
The One-Eyed Lion Is King."

Funny he didn't like The Kingston Trio but issued those box sets. I suppose if he had enough asking he would issue the 2n DG & Whiskeyhill Singers album

Hi gabbytrioguy!
I was always interested in getting hold of Dave Guard & The Whiskeyhill Singers 2nd Album.
I've tried reaching out to Tom Guard --- but unfortunately silence was the bold reply.
The person who may have this tape from Capitol Records is Richard Weize,
President & CEO of BEAR FAMILY RECORDS. (located in Germany)
I phoned Mr. Weize (in Germany) and once he told me he did not like THE KINGSTON TRIO ---
and found their songs to be "Watered-Down Folk Music" I lost interest in our conversation and hung up the phone.
Richard Weize had originally planned to make a third BEAR FAMILY BOX SET entitled: POST KINGSTON TRIO & MORE ---
to follow up on THE GUARD YEARS and THE STEWART YEARS --- but never happened.
That third Box Set would have included BOTH ALBUMS by DAVE GUARD & THE WHISKEYHILL SINGERS.

Does anyone know if anyone has done any research on that 2nd Dave Guard & the Whiskeyhill Singers album that was recorded but never released. Might Tom Guard heard about it and know its last where abouts.?
