Very sad news....
and I want to extend my condolences to the family and friends of the late Rick Daly.
Rick meant so much to us here at Folk U.S.A. and on Crossroads. He will be greatly missed.
I remember a speech Robert Kennedy made after the assassination of his brother JFK.
It stuck with me all these years. Robert quoted Shakespeare from the story of Romeo & Juliet:
"When he shall die, take him and cut him up into little stars,
and he should make the face of Heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night,
and pay no worship to the garish sun."
The News today might not be the same as it was in 1966, but it still talks about our world,
and after witnessing what's going on, all I can say to you, Rick, is....

re: the passing of Rick Daly (August 23rd 2024)
"I Heard The News Today, Oh Boy..." ("A Day In The Life" / The Beatles)
Yes, this morning I woke up to the horrible news that Rick Daly passed away. I was so shocked and taken aback, I called in sick and took the day off from work.
Rick and I go back a long way exchanging e-mails and discussing The Kingston Trio and Folk Music among other things. Some very personal.
His passing today took me by surprise and was totally unexpected. I still can't believe it.
Rick Daly's presence on his website "Folk USA" as well as on Ken Laing's "Kingston Crossroads" was enormous and so many of us looked forward to what Rick had to say. We enjoyed Rick's insight and his sense of humor immensely.
Sadly, it will never be the same.
We owe a ton of thanks and gratitude to Rick Daly for preserving Folk Music on this "Folk USA" website which reflected the heart and soul of America.
Goodbye Old Friend. We Will Never Forget You.
