About twice a year, I do a Youtube search on the group that now calls itself "The Kingston Trio." I have to say that Mr. Marovich is the best member that's graced that group since the hostile take over. His presence definitely moved the group up a couple notches...it was noticeable. Maybe that's why he's suddenly "leaving." I have little doubt that Mike-a-licious will dive in to the "network" of the established, touring members of The Brothers Four, the Limeliters, the New Christy Minstrels, etc. I think the only real criteria is probably that you don't sound, or look better than Mike & Tim...oh, and that you take far less money than Josh, Bobby and Don did.
