Dan, when I fell at work in 2008 and tore both, I had surgery done on the left. Doctor told me it was the worst tear he ever saw. Only gave me 25% use of my arm, and that's what made me end up with a disability pension and give up my police career. Had to leave because of it. So I never had the right one operated on because up until recently, torn or not, I still had full use of it. It comes and goes. And actually, an orthopedist I was seeing for my knees, told me he wouldn't operate on it because I was diabetic and the chance of an infection was too dangerous. Wouldn't operate on my knees either for the same reason, and I really need knee replacement. And yes, I'm old too. So I try to live with it all.

Feel for you Rick ... both left and right torn rotator cuff! Left is worse sometimes excruciating. Nowadays it can be outpatient arthroscopic. A friend had it done and swears by it. After two spinal surgeries I’m reluctant and besides I’m old!
