I only know of one other fella that plays that way. A local guy, who had a good sized following back in the 70's. A few years ago he had a stroke that left him somewhat incapacitated and these days that's the only way he can still play.
Terry, Do you recall any other artists playing their guitar that way? I can't think of any.
This may (or may not) have made Crossroads. I recall seeing and commenting on the notice at the time.
I loved his tenor voice and his version of "Today" was the most beautiful I've ever heard.
I can even forgive him for tuning his guitar to an open chord and holding his thumb all the way across the fret board. R I P
I didn't see this mentioned here or the Kingston Trio Place message board so maybe some of you missed this as well. Jimmie Rodgers passed away at the age of 87 last January. Some of his well known hits were Kisses Sweeter Than Wine, Secretly, World I Used To Know and of course Honeycomb. Jimmie was certainly a contemporary of the Kingston Trio and his voice will be missed. MTABob
