I don't think there was ever an "invitation." More like Harry's announcements in the hopes that the Palace would have to go along with it.

At about 9am on Monday, the BBC reported that his spokesperson had said the prince had accepted an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace during the trip. But within about 15 minutes the broadcaster said the palace had contradicted that.

A spokesperson for Harry said the offer from the king had been “withdrawn at the last moment” – with the judgment in the duke’s case against Associated Newspapers, which is expected on Tuesday, given as the reason. The spokesperson said the announcement was “disappointing”.

I think if Charles met with Harry this week, he'd have to face William next week.William is the one who matters, not Harry.

Same old story, Harry and Meghan throw choice bones to the press and they gobble up the slop. Then Harry changes the scenario, "Nope, everything that was planned is now off and it's the King, the Queen, Prince William's or the Palace's fault." "Poor pitiful us."
They were never invited and I doubt Charles offered the scraggy olive branch to meet especially after the Sussex Express ran a story about the meeting and Harry's "supposed" list of demands for his father...again.
I doubt Charles and Harry will meet and if they do, Camilla and staff will be in the room also and the meet will be short.

The article further states that Harry "hopes Meghan and the kids can come over, if it's safe" or something to the effect of the same old horse hockey statements.
It's the set up for Meghan not coming at all. The kids were never coming to the UK....they've had plenty of chances with other IG engagements.

Why does it always have to be tied to the games? I mean, if they can jet off any where any time, why does it have to be connected to one thing? Because they can bill the games for the trip?

My guess is because the Games provide a private jet and luxury hotel accommodation for them, plus all the travel to and from venues and so on.

Yes, after the Dusseldorf "games", it was reported that IG paid for their luxury hotel, flew them in on the private jet, and Meghan's wardrobe and jewelry, such as it was, all on the Invictus dime, plus the German Govt. I believe the same happened in Canada.
Now with games in Birmingham, UK's MOD announced a couple of years ago that it would be involved in IG, it could be that the story about being offered one of the "palaces" may mean that MOD told Harry "no all inclusive free perks on us". I'm just making a very wild guess.

I wonder if there will be appeals? This could, conceivably, go on forever. I'm not familiar enough with the British legal system to really comment about this. It's terrible for the victims of crime and their families to have private information disclosed just to entertain the masses. But I don't feel too bad for the celebrities when relatively benign information is leaked. Most of the information doesn't matter, although it can be a bit embarrassing and no one likes to feel embarrassed in public. I get that.

But Harry has played the push/pull game with the media, or at least his wife has. Quit looking at me, respect my privacy but we'll be at this location or this party arriving at X:00 towards the main entrance. You can't have it both ways.

Firstly, there is no such thing as the British Legal System. There are two legal systems in the UK, England and Welsh Legal System and the Scottish Legal System. Prince Harry's and the five other claimants have been going through English and Welsh System. Their claims were being heard at the High Court in London, which is the highest court they could go (think of your Federal Court). They are entitled to apply for permission to appeal the High Court ruling at the Court of Appeal in an attempt to overturn it. But there is no guarantee. All of the claims have now been dismissed after the claimants failed to prove the allegations. A hearing will take place on 29-30 July to hear arguments on any points of dispute and any necessary court orders following the judgment.

It's reported that an "insider" has stated that Harry will appeal the ruling". Good luck on that, dismissal on lack of evidence, all those allegations/suspicions, but no hard, undisputed proof.... In addition, Harry repeatedly outright lied throughout his testimony.
These two have put themselves in a real financial hole, all because of their stupidity. No sympathy from me.

It's not just his own legal fees, the losing plaintiffs will be liable for at least a percentage of the defendant's legal costs as well.

Harry got on the wrong side of the judge before the trial even started. He was hit with a large fine pre-trial for trying to inject patently false information about ANL.
He should have learned, but the man is stupid. I'm sure Harry has received some high powered tongue lashings from the other "claimant's", they're on the hook for paying out big time.
No matter Harry has to pay, it will be much more than what he's won in the other lawsuits. This has been a huge abuse of the judicial system. I think the judge expressed this by dismissing all the claims.

If I were Charles, the offers of staying at BP or any Royal residence would now stop. He's on his own. There's always SOHO House, Markus will make sure Harry and Meghan stay for free.
Harry has all the fees from his own legal team, too....so sad...not.

"Speaking on the Daily Expresso podcast, host JJ Anisiobi said a source has revealed the event, which is for wounded, injured or sick military service personnel and veterans, "could get cancelled". He explained: "Invictus is a great idea, and it started off really well. I'll start with this... it used to be sponsorship was the main way it was funded. In recent years, and for the Birmingham games, it's now majority by whichever country is hosting the games."
"He continued: "The UK has underwritten £26m for next year's Invictus Games. But they will only release that money if Invictus raise enough money for them to go ahead. Currently, the UK government has given them approximately £3m of that underwritten £26m, which means Invictus have got to raise a lot of money between now and next year for the games to ahead in its entirety.

IG was a terrific idea (copied from our Warrior Games), responsibility was then handed over to Harry. He married Meghan and they turned it into, basically a corrupt organization. The athletes are getting short changed while Harry and Meghan use all the perks than can get on the IG dime. Harry has stacked the IG Board with his loyal cronies.
I knew it was a matter of time when Boeing would pull out. The UK Govt. isn't going to bend to Harry's will.

Boeing isn't doing all that well right now, so I can see them cutting back on their sponsorships, especially for what is in effect a foreign entity.

Sir Elton and his husband David have always been extremely generous to many different charities, using both their time and their money to help people all over the world. They have also been generous with family and friends in need. However, even they have their limits.Constant "gimme gimme gimme" tends to become tiresome after awhile, and Harry losing the court case has to have caused issues as well. Add in Elton and David's closeness to William and being friendly with Charles and Camilla and voila, limits reached.
