Prosecutors Recommend Marius Hoiby Serve 7 Years In Prison

Actually, it's seven years and seven months. The maximum sentence for a rape conviction is 10 years. Marius committed 4 rapes. Those crimes in addition to numerous other felonies and he will "fined" for those. I know, I know, their laws are different from our US laws, but I don't think the victims really got all that much justice. Why? When Marius is released, he'll offend again and again, unless a miracle happens. I can feel it.
Prosecutors are denying that he's getting special treatment...the public may not agree.

The trial ended last week and the actual Verdict is expected early June. He will remain in Prison Until the Sentencing.

Karen, just curious. Why so long to get a verdict? Is this a jury trial or a bench trial? Not familiar at all with how criminal trials work in other nations. Sounds like you have to wait a long time just for the verdict after the trial ends

It's a bench trial. Marius and lawyers wouldn't want jury.

No. I can imagine he definitely wouldn't want a jury trial. Just wasn't sure what choices he might have, if any. Given his past experiences with the law I'm not sure it would matter. They ought to put him away and throw out the key. Thanks, Karen.

And if Brevik's experience in prison is anything to go by, Marius will have his video games and books and internet use and a "cell" that looks like a college dorm room. Oh, and I believe he'll have therapists and all kinds of services he should have used before committing these crimes.
