Tom Sykes explains that eight UK police forces are reviewing material, and the National Crime Agency had become involved and that is significant.

I have to wonder if Charles moving up the timeline to get Andrew out of Royal Lodge was to get his records in boxes to give the police easier access? Royal Lodge is immense - was accelerating the move Charles assisting the police? Did Charles know this was coming?

A convoy of police has arrived to search Royal Lodge in Windsor as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has now spent more than six hours in custody on his 66th birthday following his arrest after a raid on Sandringham today.

The former Duke of York can be questioned and held without charge for 24 hours from the moment he arrived at a police station on Thursday morning.

With Andrew's current location being kept secret, multiple sources have confirmed that King Charles was not warned in advance that his younger brother was to be arrested by officers from Thames Valley Police.

Beatrice and Eugenie had no warning either, I take it. This must be terrible for them. And where is Fergie? Not being loyal to Andrew or comforting her daughters, bit in hiding?

Is the Tripod is back together again? Probably not, since the husbands have interests they'd like to protect. I think the princesses are laying low and meeting with attorneys in advance of being called in by the police for interviews.

Sarah was last reported to be out of the country but was buying a home in Windsor through an intermediary. We'll see if that goes through. Now that she's been exposed, and could possibly be tied to Andrew's dealings, her friends might be suddenly unreachable.

No way she's saavy enough to survive a police interview without an attorney to filter her responses. But she has no money so will her daughters help her out? I would think they're getting legal advice for themselves right now.

In the US a witness does not have to have a lawyer present (part of the Miranda rights). I don't know about the UK. But if she were charged, she'd be entitled to an attorney, provided by the government if need be.

Does the British legal system provide a lawyer for a person unable to pay for one themselves? Just curious.

Just to point out that England and Wales have a joint legal system. Scotland has a completely seperate legal system. There is no actial British Legal System. To answer your question, yes, the English legal system provides free legal advice and representation for defendants, but it is not always automatic and depends on the stage of the case and financial eligibility.

And she's not a defendant yet --if called in, it would be as a witness. As I mentioned above, there's no specific provision for representation when you're just a witness. You can still request it, though, and then it has to be provided.

Shell shocked. Andrew went by the thought that nothing would happen to him because, he was a Royal, his brother, the King would step in and pull strings or rank to get his brother off or Andrew would get a slap on the wrist. Nope.

I'm sure Fergie has moved on to the UAE, she had been spending time in the "French Alps", where she got the money to stay in the Alps is beyond me unless some unknown wealthy friend provided it.
I'd love to listen in on an police interview with Fergie, she'll lie through her teeth and play the victim. It wouldn't surprise me she would try to throw Beatrice under the bus. I'm sure she's in a right state of panic right now.
I'm completely devoid of any sympathy for Andrew and Fergie.

I agree, Sarah cannot be contained. The best chance the daughters have of helping their father, assuming, is to keep her away from the press so she can’t yammer on about her bestest friend who’s innocent, etc.

Several politicians have called for the former prince to be removed from the line of succession after he was arrested and questioned by detectives on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Ministers will consider passing legislation to strip Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of his right to inherit the throne once any police investigation has concluded, it is understood.

It has to happen, but I would think he would need to be found guilty, or admit guilt, before that happens. But it does need to be done. Andrew also needs to be removed as a Councillor of State. There can be no ties left to the monarchy, other than familial. Even those are tenuous.

It sounds as if the government will wait until after the police investigation, I think the government has released the info to get ahead of the public and media's calling for his removal.
