Just to point out that England and Wales have a joint legal system. Scotland has a completely seperate legal system. There is no actial British Legal System. To answer your question, yes, the English legal system provides free legal advice and representation for defendants, but it is not always automatic and depends on the stage of the case and financial eligibility.
