Princess Aiko's Popularity Spurs Calls For Succesion Change

Happy 24th birthday to Princess Aiko. I can write with confidence that I will not see a ruling Empress in Japan in my lifetime. The Conservatives and Ultra Conservatives in the Govt. are absolutely against female succession. It makes no difference if the public majority want the change.
Japan came close to passing a law enabling female succession nearly twenty years ago or so. That's when suddenly it was announced Fumihito and Kiko were expecting a third child and.....surprise, surprise, the baby was going to be a boy.

The succession won't be changed, at least not now. I think change will happen when Fumihito ascends and his son establishes a family, but not until then. I think it's clear Fumihito and Kiko want their line to occupy the Chrysanthemum Throne.

The mentions all or nearly all the engagements Aiko has carried with her parents or solo. Today Aiko visited her grandparents the former Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko to mark her birthday.

She is a beautiful young woman and an asset to the If and Japan. Plus she has cats!
