That is a well-cut and beautifully-tailored suit William is wearing. Unusually, Charles's suit jacket looks a little tight and slightly crumpled. He's usually very well turned out.

You have provided the opportunity for me to comment on the sartorial standards of these two royal men these days.

For some time I have been concerned about the tailoring standards these days and too often could complain about them.

Find a closeup of the pair of them and do some comparing.

First the collars on their shirts. William's is traditional where the points neatly hide the tie each side of the knot. The points of Charles' shirt collar are spread and the necksize looks too small so that the shirt is not as sharp as William's. I have noticed this style of shirt quite often these days.

Then compare the tailoring of the jacket lapels and collars. William's jacket is more conventional, so that the opening is perfectly aligned with straight sides. And the buttoning looks correctly positioned. Whereas Charles' gapes wide, sides are poorly aligned and the buttoning area looks quite out of control.

The "modern" tailoring has the jacket collars placed too high to the shoulder area and the lapels are usually skimpy and the front opening is usually curved tio gape open.

His appearance here is not up to Charles's usual sartorial standards. This is s man who could emerge from a long walk in an equatorial climate looking immaculate in pressed khakis and well oiled boots. I have to think maybe his cancer treatments are very hard or he's training in a new valet.

William has certainly upped his sartorial game in recent months. Those blue slim-legged chinos he has favored seem to be making way for fuller-legged dress trousers and he's opting for newer suits, too.

The two go to different tailors for their suits.

I have often wondered if Charles might be supporting some young people for his suits, to give them encouragement in the profession.

I agree with you both. The suit Charles is such a surprise...I mean the way it's a stark appearance from HM's dapper look. The suit jacket is buttoned only at the middle button, leaving the top and bottom buttons undone. The one photo of Charles taken from several feet away shows the Charles practically swimming in the jacket, it's way too large for him now. The overall appearance is the suit is very wrinkled and unkept. Very unusual. I"m sure this is a suit that Charles has had, but it hasn't been altered or altered properly to adjust for his weight changes.
To me, Charles appears very tired.

Oh my. I just had a chance to look at the article and Charles looks very unkept. I suspect he has lost a bit of weight and now his clothing seems to hang on him. That makes it look like his clothes have not been drycleaned/laundered/pressed for months. He has always been such a dapper dresser. Fastidious, even. I hope he takes a good look at those photos and rings his tailor up quickly. And y'all are right--William has upped his sartorial game. I'm sure the King's treatment have taken a far larger toll than he is letting on.

Charles is a bit stooped, and he's lost mass in his upper back and shoulders. That effects how the jacket hangs on his body.

True. HIs mother became quite stooped the last few years of her life, and clothes which used to fit her beautifully did hang off her.
