She doesn't seem the type for either. The photos have certainly been touched up a bit. Her recent appearances at Ascot, etc. show she hasn't had any--nor, indeed, needs any--cosmetic work done.

Birgitte's jewelry collection is magnificent. She can thank Queen Mary and Princess Alice of Gloucester for most of it. Mary made up parures and at least one suite of jewels out of her own vast collection for three of her four daughters-in-law on their wedding days. Alice received a turquoise parure and an emerald suite as wedding gifts from Mary, along with the Gloucester Honeysuckle Tiara and some smaller jewels like brooches and bracelets. Birgitte had access to almost all the jewels during Alice's lifetime, and inherited more after Alice's death.
