Back in the day, expectant mothers were encouraged to have a drink or two to relax. Women were also encouraged to smoke! My doctor prescribed a glass of wine every night, but it tasted like vinegar so I stuck to non-alcoholic drinks. So it QM was having drinks during her pregnancies, it wasn't against the mores or doctor's orders. It stands to reason that if Margaret had FAS then her older sister had it too.
