All thos week here in the UK there are events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE and it struck me heavily this morning as I sit watching the first events take place. She will not be there. For the first time VE celebrations will take place without Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The last big VE Day anniversary that was publically marked was the 70th Anniversary (75th one was in 2020 and obvious reason there was no public celebrations). The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh attended a Thanksgiving Service at Westminster Abbey. Other events took place as well.
