No we would not cancel an event like that, but...a representative (most likely the current Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh) would have been sent to the funeral and the event (whatever it was) would have been more subdued and possibly delayed for a couple of hours. The very least the Dutch Royals could have done was send someone to represent the King.
