The media doesn't get that charity patronages aren't assigned by throwing the names of working royals into a hat and then picking one out. The royal has to be interested in the work done by the charity and the charity has to want to be represented by that particular royal.
Journalists would be squawking very loudly if editors used that method to decide who would report on what for a particular day.
