Everyone knows what their favorite desserts are, and the list may be long!
But, what are your 3 least favorite desserts, ones that you could, and probably would, walk away from having?
I can usually eat most sweets, even if not a favorite, but I do have a couple, I realized, that I'm not fond enough of to eat...
It may sound weird, because it's so normal, but I never cared much about yellow boxed cake (old days before modern versions.) to eat them. My mom made them for my dad a lot, with chocolate frosting. I'd eat the frosting, but really didn't care for the cake. Meanwhile, I didn't mind white or chocolate boxed cakes, even from the same time period, and liked my grandmother's homemade version just fine.
Another that sounds really normal, but cherry pie, if made with sour cherries. The 'sauce' is sweet, but then you bite into a cherry which is not. That tartness hurt my 'mumps spot.' Even though I liked everything else cherry, I thought that I didn't like cherry pies until I tried one once that was made with sweet cherries. Epiphany!
Because my grandpa always bought us bags of fresh fruit, sometimes being cherries, I was confused by the pies because he bought us sweet, black cherries, which I loved. I'd never eaten a sour cherry as a kid!
And third, let me think...I really do like dessert, lol! Oh, there's a Christmas cookie that I turned down a lot growing up. And, that's saying a lot, because I liked Christmas cookies. My mom didn't make them so they were a treat.
There are 2 that look like them, one is made with shortening, the other butter. The one I'm referring to is the shortening version. It's round, always dry no matter who makes them, and sometimes has walnuts in them. Dd liked them, so as an adult, I had someone to pawn them off on when we got them!
How about you? Which desserts would you walk away from?
