When I was growing up, my mother had something that she did, which I've never forgotten.
When we had been out in very hot weather, and had gotten too hot, she would sit us at the table, and give us sliced tomato to eat. No one I know did that, but she said that it was the best choice. Not ice cold drinks, but tomatoes.
We did drink cool water, but with tomatoes.
Now, I think that it was probably a way to add salt, sugar, etc...to 'fix' electrolytes.
That was before Gatorade. Remember when Gatorade only came in green and orange? lol!
I have no problem eating soup etc. in hot weather, just not cooking it. That's why I try to pre-cook foods, and cook outside.
