(This is the weekly post where you share your week of food. Did you have anything that really made your week, such as your favorite soup, a lunch out, or maybe you had something new? Find a new food product? A new appliance? Please do share!)
This week was alright, though not very exciting.
I got more vegetables to prep/cook this week. Not as many as before, but still 4 bunches each of greens, celery, and broccoli, I think it is. It just came in, in the last hour. I have plenty of onions and carrots.
I don't know how it will work with getting things moved for the tree service tomorrow, but hopefully next week there will be stew, stir fry, etc.
Also, hopefully, we will be able to get more meat soon, but with Ds being more busy at work than ever, I am not sure.
We have been making just a few cookies at a time from the dough, which has been nice. We get them fresh from the oven, and not too many, so we're not tempted to over-eat them, lol!
What's been really nice with these (chewy, brownie-like cookies.) is the spread that I've been putting on mine. I have a very flavorful raspberry spread. There's nothing in it but fruit, pectin, etc., maybe 3 or 4 ingredients.
When you spread just a thin layer of it on a warm cookie, it's amazing! More is not better, for me anyway.
We probably won't make more until next weekend. We've been making them once - twice a month, which seems good to me. Dh has many choices, both with sugar, sweetened with stevia, or without added sweetener. This gives me something, too!
I took all of my recipes in my recipe file, the past 2 days, and made a list in groupings by type, for a project. While there, I found some recipes that I had forgotten about, and while I can't have them all these days...full of dairy, etc...there are some that I'm excited to make again!
Also, to share with Ds! He's usually willing and interested in trying recipes, as long as ddil will eat them.
They were going to wait until Thyri's 1st birthday before giving her certain foods, like eggs. It occurred to me, though, that she should try things before then that will be 1sts on that day.
She's never had, for example, flour, eggs, sugar, etc. And, what's in birthday cake? Yep, flour, eggs, sugar, etc.
So, tomorrow morning, before Ds comes over to help move the items for the tree service with Dh, he's going to give her a bite of scrambled eggs.
She just started Cheerios a couple of weeks ago. She sits in her high chair when he's in the kitchen cooking, and she needed something easy and consistent to nibble on while he's working. She loves getting some of the dry cereal on her tray. I laugh, because it reminds me not only of myself and my children at that age, but a lot of the strategies with her remind me of raising a puppy, lol!
Anyway, aside from being thrilled that I have canned pears again when I need/want them, that's about all for this week!
How was your food week?
