This morning I went on-line and restocked what I want on hand.
I have seriously depleted everything, so my list of needs & wants is at the bottom of this post. 8-).
There is one piece of kitchen furniture that I MUST get asap. I do not have much storage space in the kitchen. THere is an under the counter shelf unit I need to buy but first I need a bureau/shelf/drawer unit. No more then 3 feet long and 3+ feet high.
If I am standing at the sink this would be behind me as a break between the kitchen & dining room.
I also need to find a way to use my air cooker. Which may mean another counter that is as high as a stove and as wide & deep. That will fit where a stove would normally go. The stove fan assembly is in place over that area but I keep hitting my head on it.
Boy plans on helping me build an outside storage area as I have no garage or real storage but the pantry - ITS FULL! - and the laundry room... Needs shelf and storage space UNDER the cabinets... and removal of my dryer. Which I do not use. It's electric and my clothes dry just fine on the line or hanging in the bathrooms of even if necessary hanging from a working ceiling fan. LOL
Plus I have 4 years of recycling and non-recyclable stuff behind my house. ARRRGH!!! Boy has refused to deal with it... and I have no car and now covid ARRRGH!!!
The problem is the shelves in the laundry room can be those metal ones...but the unit in the kitchen must be all wood. Which means a garage sale or goodwill, thrift stores. None of which are practical at this time.
I have a bin from the fridge that I want to keep potatoes, etc in but no counter space... the bottled well water already takes up too much room and it's lucky that neither of the bathtubs are used for anything but bottled well water. Which is used for everything but cooking and drinking.
OK here is my fresh food list.
Brown onions
avocados
tomatoes
cucumber
green onions
1 doz eggs
1 lb ground beef grain fed
chicken drumsticks - I have breasts already
Pork sausages
Bacon applewood
2 Naan bread
1 loaf 7 grain bread
Pineapple
apples
cabbage
carrots
potatoes
1 jar basil pesto
Free delivery on friday at 1pm
But twice what I usually spend but then I am out of a lot. i had to double up on some of the items where usually I buy 2 I bought 4, etc.
Mostly basics like carrots, apples, potatoes, onions, avocados. Blah, blah.
Even so it was within budget. Yeah!!!
Now I get through the catalog for Schwan's for frozen foods I need. Just a few things as the freezer room is still tight - and no I, haven't heard from the neighbor.
I am down to only some leftover meals and a turkey breast I did not yet cook. LOLOL Best laid plans.
THere is a number of pork chops but those I need to marinate and am still not sure what I want to do. The chops are tough when fried or baked. Any suggestions?
I will buy a couple of small pizzas for those days I DO NOT WANT TO COOK. But I prefer to buy items to cook and create my own menus rather then one dish meals. I do like the veggies - asparagus comes in a box and lasts me months...I buy frozen corn on the cob that is shucked and half cobs - I use them when I do not want to open a can and bags of veggies take up to much room.
Well enough of that. I need to read the catalogue and pick out what I really need on hand. LOL Not what I want.. i.e. cheesecake, brownies: YaDa, Yada, Yada. lol
Well, I hope things get straightened out for you all. It's raining a bit which can't be enough... we are down 11 inches. Sigh! and that is not going to change any time soon.
Be well be safe. Take care. Have a really good 2021.
