Crackers I know that I had. Some people broke up/rolled out Saltines, and some people insisted that you had to use 'butter crackers.' (aka Ritz.)
It is very likely that your mom used bread crumbs. A lot of people soaked them in milk to help moisten the meatloaf. They did the same with fresh bread torn up. I have forgotten what it's called, but there's actually a name for a bread milk mixture used in things.
Yes, most people use egg, though a few, like my mom, didn't. For some reason, hers held together fine, but for perfect slices for sandwiches, egg in the mix helps.
Well, I got done maybe 1/3 of what I meant to today, so far, and am heading off to prep a zillion vegetables. Okay, not a zillion, only half that. :-)
Actually, I only have, for fresh produce, carrots, onions, celery, and 1 bunch of greens. So, I'm going to go an prep them for 3 meals...soup, chicken pot pie, and a little more stew. I have canned corn to add to the chicken-vegetable-noodle soup. It will be good to have, but after this, nothing fresh in the house. Hopefully, I can get a few items next week.
Well, off to wash, stem, peel, and chop!
