you haven't made a case it's good for teh conference
and if it's not good for LB, then probably not good for Bake or UCI or..
again saying 11 is better than 9 because 11 is better than 9 is not persuasive
it's circular logic
again
1) conference already has a presence in INland Empire.
2) Cal Baptist is 150 ish this year in MBB, 1 or 2 years (like Bake) is not compelling. plus we already have two 150 ish teams in Riverside! & Northridge. Cal Baptist this year would add zilch
3) a nice gym? no one but Cal Baptist cares, it doesn't add money for any other time. it's nice! nice is not some compelling reason. it does not fix Beach's arena
wating for a compelling reason other than circular logic
4) they dropped the best Big West sport. MVB. lol granted if they were to sponsor it, it might hep their case, or Beach VB (where BIg West has 3 top 12 teams) Previous Message
What's good for the conference is good for LBSU. Previous Message
so your logic is 11 is better for Long Beach than 9 because 11 is better than 9, and Beach requires Cal Baptist (currently better this year than Beach) in order to make Beach better.
got it!!!
sorry, Cal Baptist being in the Big West won't make Beach any better. Beach has to become better indepeent of whatever in hades Cal Baptist is.
Bake before they joined was in the midst of a nice 2/3 year run. since joining the Big West, Bake being in the conference has not made Beach better
insane ridiculous logic
11 vs. 9 may make some (and the commish) feel more secure about their job. that's a bout it though
I can't imagine any President or AD is really thrilled about adding Cal Baptist. if added, it'll be because of some 'made up' necessity logic like yours Previous Message
Because look at the reality of small mid-major conferences. Adding good teams with resources and a drive to be competitive is a good thing.
This is a dog eat dog world now. The WAC will cease to function, effectively, once this move is made.
Having a full, 11-team conference is a good thing for the future of the Big West, and thus, Long Beach State. Previous Message
why is it bad.
explain how Cal Baptist will make anyone other than Cal Baptist better, by adding them
waiting to here that logic!! Previous Message
Well this is a very bad opinion! Previous Message
lol, why do so many people give a rats arse about Cal Baptist, are they planning to become supporters?
will it add value (i.e. $$$) to the Big West instead of dilution?
does the Big West need two teams in the inland emprire? sheesh!
it makes no sense to me. I don't CARE they have a nice arena, I sure as heck am not going to any games there.
it is private.
just makes no sense, people think they are well run, but so what? Big West teams have to better their own Big West teams. adding Cal Baptist does not do that.
I think part of this is the commish just making 'numbers' to save and protect his own job, that is what commish'es do.
Utah Valley is a different story. it makes sense in the type of institution, the location, competent programs, it can add VALUE
what in hades am I missing. the ADs and Presidents should say NO to Cal Baptist, as well they dropped the best Big West sport, MVB
MAYBE, if Cal Baptist resurrected MVB, then it might be ONE reason. but then the idiot PResidents let Bake drop Big West sports when joining the Big West, embarrassing move. Previous Message
Big West presidents are voting this Friday whether to invite Utah Valley and Cal Baptist to the conference starting with the 2026 season. Reports are that Big West officials recently visited both schools. This appears to improve the mens college basketball ratings for the conference. Utah Valley is currently in 1st place in the WAC, ahead of Grand Canyon. Cal Baptist also has a solid program. The Cal State schools better start growing their NIL budget or they will be behind them and the UC schools.
