Hayes can sub at setter for a blocking sub, or some front-row opp, or a serving specialist, but back-row? lol, no way
yeah, Natalie communicates well, she understands the deficiency. she doesn't need to parse words so much about sub-par performance, but I get it, she's not old school like Robyn was.
we all get she's positive. still can send a message without it being too 'harsh' or negative. not cutting it is not cutting it. So if a player doesn't cut it, make a change. no sacred cows
who is the floor leader? - need someone that will get in your face when you screw up and pat you on the back when you do well -- same with the coaching staff -- happiness comes from winning -- joy comes from just being there -- need to make changes now -- mad max and harris - setter ok -- bring the big O and give glenn some rest -- hayes in the back row with giambi - might give the frosh some playing time at libero -- also would like o see hat he coach can do in the near future -- she needs to become the head coach with strength -- when she says something you do it - no ok ok we will try and do better the next -- success comes from a strong leader ------= GO 49rs ---
I was a pretty big fan of Natalie with little reservations...
..until last night
She articulates well, I think she provides a good environment players need.
Harris and Maxwell & Lomgoria have progressed . Glenn had been a stud until the last few matches
what is starting to be glaring though is these upperclassman that she got to come back, seem to be lacking one player or two that, for lack of a better way to say it. GET PISSED AND DEMAND RESULTS BY EXAMPLE - maybe that's too old school. I get all the 'comforting' approach, but there's also got to be more accountabilty installed for piss poor play
IRvine is better this year, they aren't a typical not so good mid-tier Big West team. still shanking cream-puff serves deserves some immediate subbing out right now.
I hope Natalie succeeds, still would like to see her grow as a coach. I'm not positive we can actually go out and get some re-tread or take a flyer on some other up and comer.
the other thing was she made HORRIBLE challenges.
even successful, using your challenge when you don't need a point is not smart. She listed to Abby on a wasted challenge, a coach has to know when not to just defer to your players.
and then worst of all, that challenge to end the game lacked all dignity to me. there was nothing to challenge, but she had one so I guess it's what coaches do, use their last challenge. to me that is just a 'weak' look. of course if there's a chance because you saw something, then of course. just a desperation look, weak.
she needs to get a bit more drill sargeant in her and her staff for the last month, a better balance.
and not sure if Maddox was not 100%, but hopefully get Maddox out there more
Hain yanked players at times, there's nothing wrong with it, they were the more determined team, and it's glaring to watch the Irvine players looking across the net at a bunch of players laughing and joking while they are kicking Beach's butt.
man I was pissed that was like flashback to the Joy era. and before another big great crowd that deserved better than that ragged happy go lucky performance and ragged ending
It seems pretty obvious that this coach is not ready to be a Head Coach in the Big West.
Hopefully, the new AD realizes this sooner than later, and focues his time on finding a better solution.
What an ugly loss
Even if they had won there is no excuse
Laughing and giggling about losing points,
An easy serving Irvine team and receiver after receiver choke on simple serves
Trying cute shots in the clutch
Since the Davis win there s no growth in this team,
They got out grinded by Irvine.
Need to bench a few players tomm and get some others out there. right now this team is full of players afraid of being served at. There s got ti be some toughness or the breakdowns will get worse
