aside from the super franchises (Alabama, Ohio State, Mich, USC, Texas, Georgia) after the 'top 10' the others are just chasing an huge unknown just to not be left out. I doubt they have any real idea about expenses
unlike pro sports, where there is an equity the owners that buy, and there are economics.
the 'co-signers' of this BS are f'king universities selling out their soul just literally to not be left out of some idealistic goal (a football playoff, an elusive natty in football?)
the model is completely broken as the pro model and being an academic institution have been perverted beyond any sense of decency. it won't last, UCLA may have won a battle to get in to the B1G, only to end up as a bottom dweller perpetually, trying to keep up. I just do not understand the economics, and not sure many of these schools do
the Ivy League turns out has a good model, to not get too caught up.
the B1G & SEC 'pairing' is just to control and monopolize money. Every league Texas has been in they've gotten 'upset' and not getting their rightful 'share'. So where does it stop for them? Previous Message
Football will be carved out from the other sports. So, conferences could potentially realign based on geographical footprint, although it remains to be seen whether Big 10/SEC/Big 12 teams would do that. Previous Message

Duke? Cal? enjoy it while it lasts, Cal you think you have debt now? lol
SMU? maybe there are boosters who can right checks for the next 10 years to keep up
Stanford? might want to consider reaching out to the Ivy League?
The Big 12 is some collection of teams I can't even list. good luck to the 1 or 2 who might make the final cut? SM
TCU? sorry, only two pro franchis in the state of Texas (UT & A&M)
Iowa State? might want to consider joining the Pac-12 while you can to save basketball.
Kansas? sorry, see Iowa State
on and on and on. Wazzou and Oregon State will be getting more company as the rats of the Football-Industrial-Complex eat their own.
what's the saying. Pigs get fed, Hogs get slaughtered. looking forward to the day may of these so-called universities get slaughtered.
