I do not disagree about changing the rules, IN THE FUTURE
what I do not like about BOise's decision is the rules were in place last year and this year. THEY KNEW AHEAD OF TIME. it's just faux indignation IMO. I think or suspect they are getting caught up in some overstimulated sense of indignation, from whatever outside influences from a number of sources.
to me, Boise isn't making any sort of decision of principle, UNLESS they do not play any more and forfeit the rest of their games. Their beef should be with the NCAA, not SJSU. so if you beef is the the rule (NCAA), then boycott the NCAA, not one match. But they won't have the guts to do so. and I suspect some of their players aren't too pleased, but who knows.
otherwise, it's a garbage decision by that Boise program.
they are not proving anything other than not wanting to compete. But that's my opinion.
sorry if this offends, just play the dang match, it's not some safety issue, that's flat out BS. If safety is a concern, they we should have a rule that top 10 team can't play any tteam lower than 75, cause those top 10 teams hit the crap out of the ball. Heck, we've had concussions, POly had a player with severe concusions. The safety BS is just that.
it's just a stupid decision not to play. But hey their choice and reasonable people can agree or not.
Starting with the Paris Olympics, here's the basic guidelines for transgender athletes:
The new guidelines require transgender women to have completed their transition before the age of 12 to be eligible to compete in the women's category. This rule is intended to prevent any perceived unfair advantages that might arise from undergoing male puberty.
From what I read, Blaire Fleming would not meet these terms...
her teammate, the setter, is suing the NCAA about this as well. so she's setting their best hitter, while suing saying she should not be on the team.
talk about coompartmentalizing
this is going to keep increasing attention
2nd forfeit (Utah Valley, now Boise.
San Jose State is undefeated. not only does this incrase SJSU's likely seed for the MWC tourny, it decreases BOise
the more forfeits San Jose gets, makes it easier even for their at-large profile
imagin San Jose gets two forfeits in their conference tournament, to get a NCAA bid or imagin a final of the MWC where a team forfeits the bid matchh for the NCAA
they have a 2nd match with San Jose, where I guess they'll forfeit again
wonder what Wyoming and Utah State do? If Boise opts out, my bet is the pressure will mount in those states for them to forfeit, will make a mockery of the MWC season
I doubt Fresno or SDSU or NEvada schools or Air Force forfeits.
Wyoming was a legit contendor as is Utah State & BOise to make the BWCT and possibly win it
the issue was not an issue the prior 3 seasons with this player, the teams went with the rules at that time
now that San Jose State is 9-0 it's only going get more publicity
