memorable, yeah. effective?
still violates marketing principals. in teh case of drugs, though, there was nothing to market
you are correct in regards to putting out a slogan without thinking thru and providingwhat it is intended for, aside from just being a slogan
that's why slogans that start as gimmicks don't tend to accomplish much
Big West 'Bold'. classic. just a gimmick, and now the Big West will double down and use it, when it's just silly
the A that Fee put into BeAch. another gimmick, it had that connotation with tye Pyramid, but yeah a gimmick. it didn't really raise any money, maybe sold some more apparel lol
'Built' has a chance if there is substance behind using it other than someone just creating another slogan, but as you say maybe putting the cart
before the horse. may end up as another gimmick.
as to teh deceptive $300 mil from Jane, it's really sad. fund-raising implies getting money from donors, not thru sources you'd get anyway. I guess her argument might be funds are funds. it's just sad though, because it implies they raised from sources that were not part of normal pursuits of funds from the state/Fed. that's their f'ggn job.
to raise $300 mil in actual donations, they'd have had to 'find' about another 5000 McRaes's lol. no way, I mean if they did, jeez Jane should be a candidate to take over Harvard. but it's all Bull-sh*t mumbo jumbo. but that's Jane, just piling on for her pension. maybe she's one of those in no barriers to donate her estate, lol
"Just say No" the anti-drug campaign is one example. Of course, getting people off drugs is a tall order, but it was certainly a memorable slogan.
I have no doubt that the fundraising campaign was a dismal failure. I brought that up initially on the other board, and still feel certain that the totals are a compilation of other funding--which explains why the amounts aren't listed on the official CSU reports.
Long Beach Built has some alliteration, but as I said before, it doesn't convey a purpose or a goal (aside from being ambiguous). Is it being used in the same sense as "Made in the USA" i.e. to signal pride in developing our programs or our own. What is the campaign going to do? I have no idea what the money will be used for. Are we going to highlight all of the amazing athletes we've produced? I haven't seen any follow up or solicitations since the initial announcement--which is par for the course under Connely.
I disagree.
Beach Beach is dumb yes, as is that 'be best'
but Long Beach Built is good, it makes sense in a lot of ways and is not silly at the same time.
No Barriers is bad. Never use a negative word (i.e. No) in marketing, now matter how much one thinks what it might convey. It's a cardinal rule.
On top of that, I still don't believe the 300 million, funny math. 300 million would have been remarkable in 18 month's, it would have meant they secured about 10000 or so significant contributors, the press should do a public records request and dig in to the details. If Jane really raised 300 million in 18 months, she should be PResident for another 10 years. The endowment should be over $200 mil if they actually raised that much. I'm calling BS.
show me a major ad out there that uses the word No, I'd be interested to see that.
Built can be nutured, past or future, cmon it's one word.
but it's not stupid like the Big West 'Bold' there's absolutely nothing Bold about the Big West, it's non-sensical for a word someone came up with. and the conference will keep doubling down with it's usage, because they picked it
there's a lot Built associated with LBSU or Long Beach.
rant over
Long Beach Built is terrible marketing. It's just a little better than The Beach Beach or Melania's "Be Best"
What the heck does it mean? Does it mean built in Long Beach, or nurtured and developed by Long Beach?
At least No Barriers clearly conveyed the message or purpose.
Long Beach Built
unlike the idiotic 'No Barriers' which violated marketing 101 simple rules
this one is really good to start off. something that clearly encompasses the city/region/university and growth and the type of region Long Beach and LBSU are. somebody actually put some thought into this one
not stupid made up silly words inventing garbage slogans. but please do not make or use a LBB acroynm!
although they've thrown out the 'A' branding in BeAch which however one thought of that, I think marketing principals they should maintain it. so help me Andy Fee
now, the AD can only clean up the web-site, you go to Beach Athletic Fund and it's not even working, can't even make a donation thru that link, lol.
