Definitely a sad day in LA. Previous Message Jerry West was it for me. growing up, he was the #1 icon of athletics. The guy to model your game after. listening to Chick Hearn on the radio of a Hanford based radio station, was part my basketball youth, and the love of basketball. First video ever saw from youth coaches was of Jerry West showing how to do the jump shot with that feathery perfect jump shot. He was LA, before and in many ways more so than Magic, more than Kobe, more than any LA athlete ever was or will be. Incredible span. He, with Baylor, were the Lakers, then the 1973 breakthru team, then the front office success of the Lakers Showtime, then the Kobe/Shaq era. |
