she used the few data points that fit her agenda of changing the mascot to fit a narrative she wanted
so will she also use the data this time to fit a narrative to fund athletics due to the benefits of the university. My guess/bet is she does want to see athletics funded without her resorting to the President having to use descretionary funding. Approving this takes the onus away from that type of management of the athletic program.
part of the irony is her narrative about '49ers' and being supportive of decisions to destroy tradition/legacy did not help funding for athletics
I can only imagine what is going thru Bohl's mind as she sits there on the court with the damn Shark 3 feet away from her face, she must be thinking "I gave away money for this kind of sh%t treatment to our alumni/boosters" Previous Message
it will be interesting to see what the Student responses are. I thought getting 10,000 would seem a high number to get back.
I just can't see where the students would give a favorable rating, simply because students resist any cost increase, especially when frankly 80% of them don't care about the sports programs.
The survey though was clever in that it didn't bring up the cost so much as the benefits, so will the students simply respond that they don't see a benefit to them, and then how will Jane process that data. that's the crucial/scary part, from the story if you read between the lines it basically implies cutting 1 or 2 sports and/or only funding 80% of schollies, I mean how else do you come up with $4 million?
and before she does approve, now that it's publicized, I expect she's going to get some very VOCAL opposition to implementing it, with some pretty scathing statements against it. Frankly, it's gonna be the most impactful decision she probably makes for her entire tenure as President.
If she doesn't approve, then Beach might as well go D2, except for having an elite Men's Volleyball team since that is a D1-D2 sport.

Sounds like a decision will be made by the end of March or so. Hate to think about the alternative if the fee is not adopted... Previous Message
