Went into year one not expecting an immediate turnaround. Was pleasantly surprised by the early success but now it's back to reality. This is a work in progress and that work has barely begun.
It really does not matter at this point if we finish 4th in the Big West. What matters as you said is just to keep getting better. Need to keep bringing in good players and I would like to see the recruiting focus be more on high school players. The portal is something of a gamble. We hit the jackpot with some while others did not work out. It's gonna take time but we will get there. Previous Message
well, the initial Hildebrand BIg West era is over.
pretty much a gut check for the staff and players now.
Cal Poly hit hard, Bakersfield made unacceptable runs, and this week basically just faltered down the stretch of every single set except the two where they totally dominated.
now how they close out sets when it gets to 19-20 points and get an attitude and poise. this staff will have to find a way to get the team to execute under pressure
the two service errors and overpass at the end of set 2 pretty much told the story. some good things, just at this point getting the best players in a position to make plays and make them.
Hawaii adjusted with a front row blocking setter in that 4th set, and Tyler & co. have to figure out how to adjust.
kept Hawaii's middle off the net and limiting her kills, but didn't hit enough key in serves and broke down on some easy digs and sets
goal I guess at this point is to just get better. we've seen this before starting every year in a deep ugly hole - team will really to develop a killer attitude and display some arrogance down the stretch in sets
