NOT GETTING IN AGAIN

Posted by ALTERNATES on 2/9/2026, 7:31 am

I really hope someone files a lawsuit against the WIAA if their kid doesn't get in for a missed weight or skin issue.

There is absolutely no reason for alternates not to be able to get in.

We all know there are alternates that use to get in and place, they deserve that chance if it's available.

Lawsuit? Come on. While I dont disagree with you that they should fill all spots, a lawsuit is a joke. WIAA gets to set the rules and we deal with it.

Each school actually pays the WIAA to be part of it therefore they work for us.

Also talking with one of the tournament directors they feel that the WIAA would actually lose that lawsuit.

Their theory of it saves money to not have them on the dome is wrong, just off the top of my head

Parents are buying tickets in case kid gets in
Kid is going to spend money on WIAA apparel
kid and or parent is going to spend money in the dome.

PS while we are at it the WAII should tell the dome for state wrestling we are allowing coolers in or we are finding a new facility.

District 6 and District 3 4A have alternates that could place if they got in so yes a lawsuit for lost college opportunities seems in order.

40 AA per weight class 5 state champs and you need more brakes lol

A little late, but that's a bummer.

Omg this state has 5 state champs at each weight class. That's to hard to get in for you get real. over 100 kid per weight class now? and 5 get to say they are the state champ lol

It is crappy that the WIAA changed the rules this year, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. There were a few missed weights, so missed opportunities for the alternates for sure.

While I can agree as well, the WIAA changing the rules is crappy. There are a few that missed weights, so it was a missed opportunity for the alternates. Very sad man.

At this point literally everyone gets to state...if you’re an alternate with 32-man brackets and no regionals….then you had NO CHANCE at making State when it was 16 man brackets with a few regionals being a death march just few years ago....
