REFEREES NEEDED BADLY IN ALL AREAS OF WASHINGTON STATE!

Coaches, parents, and graduated wrestlers:
If you’re looking for some extra motivation to keep more wrestling tournaments and duals alive and thriving in this state, refereeing is a great way to help out the younger generation of our wrestling community! Pay is good for amount of time you referee. You can find more of that out if you’re interested by contacting Dave G. or myself or if you know a current referee to get in touch with your local Washington Wrestling Official’s Association. Of course you need to pass a background check and take a test to be certified for HS level of wrestling. But there are so many youth tournaments and MS tournaments that need new referees. If you know someone please have them contact one of us or someone you know who is a current wrestling official.
Thank you!

Re: REFEREES NEEDED BADLY IN ALL AREAS OF WASHINGTON STATE!
Marshall is right that the officiating ranks are in need of replenishment as many of the senior officials are aging out. We need more new officials to come out and learn as the older guys like me, and my peers, move into retirement. I will be there again this year, after missing a good part of the past two years due to injuries, because we are short of officials. I am healed up now but at my age things are a little more precarious and I have found out I am not bullet-proof like I was the first 65 years of my life. I don't know if I have that many officiating years left in me as nature takes it's course.
All it takes to ref is a knowledge of wrestling, some common sense and judgement, and a burning desire to serve the sport. Everything else can be learned and trained through your local association. Contact your local association (ask you coaches for contact info) and find out how you can get started with the learning/training process. You can also contact myself of Marshall for more info.
