Change to Freestyle opinions

What are some of the concerns with switching over to freestyle wrestling. I know this pertains to mostly our girl wrestlers but would like to hear from coaches on both sides. I think we are getting closer and closer with rule changes to the point it’s going to be a modified version of both. So why not just switch. There is talks of two more rule changes for the coming season to go that way.

Secret sauce? GTFOH, if that was the case other countries would be dying to learn folk. It’s dumb, we have to stop thinking the world revolves around the USA. Freestyle and Greco for all.

Funny how the biggest names in wrestling Cael Sanderson, David Taylor, Tom and Terry Brands are not calling for a switch from folkstyle. If you knew anythang about wrestling you would understand that folkstyle is USA's secret sauce

for high school. folkstyle is an easier recruiting tool for newbies and to get kids interested. If kids really have a passion for it, they will adapt to freestyle just fine.

This is for USAW tournaments the high schools will never change because of insurance issues and lack of freestyle officials.

As much as I would love to see it happen we are a long way from this happening at the WIAA level.

Most people that disagree with the change probably don't have the knowledge/experience in freestyle. I'm a huge fan of the crossover idea to college and HS. Girls 100% should be FS, only makes sense when they wrestle that style in college. As great as top/bottom wrestling is, I'd much rather see a push out and no OT. At the little guy level and new wrestler level number issue is locking hands on top- not a problem in FS.

In High school we should be preparing kids for the potential next level. Men should naturally prepare for performing for College recruiters. Women should be freestyle, i know its going to be a proglem with finding Officials, but we are doing women a disservice.
