Need to add regionals back.

Combine 1A with B schools.

2 Classifications for girls.

Alternates weigh in.

Couldn't agree more on all points. What is the point of calling someone an alternate then they can't wrestle if kids get sick or don't make weight. What am I missing here?

Most of wrestling community would love to see 1A/B boys combined again. Unfortunately it will most likely never happen again. Just waiting for all of the girls divisions to be separated, it’s just a matter of time.

Seriously, Coaches are the reason many changes happen.

Draft up a proposed amendment to the WIAA Handbook.

There are many examples of proposed amendments at the WIAA web site.

Talk to your AD about your proposal.

Then, follow the WIAA process.

It will take time and persistence. You might invest alot of time pushing a change only to have it voted down.

Your list has some long shots for sure

In April, WIAA will be voting on 16 changes for next year.

There might be more kids at the dome this year but on day 2 of the tournament the right 8 will be at the top of the podium instead of not getting to go because their region was tougher than another.

Just stay home for the first 2 rounds and you'll be fine

Regionals does need to comeback. Ill never understand the thought of a wrestler not making it to state because the region is to good. If the kid cant make it out of regionals then obviously their not at the level needed. They aint coming home with the chip anyways.
If you cant make the olympic team you cant win the gold.

I get it if you’re region can only send four kids and your kid takes fifth, but he can beat the kids at the other regions and could place at state but can’t beat the kids in his own region. That’s how kids that should be placing a state, don’t make it to state we have that case with our districts this year.

I feel like we should just do a regional and forget about districts. Do a 32 man bracket, have each team in the region send their 2 wrestlers, and send the top 8 to state.

Regionals is a state level event. The state wants to get rid of them and add the day at state. The state doesn't pay for districts, that is on the host school/league. State won't do this format.

So we combine our districts and make our own regional tournament, and call it multi districts.

We don’t want extra days at state. So if you do high school state and kids state you need a motel for Thursday-Saturday. Thats expensive for motel and food. Bunch of junk.

Also 3a and 4a don't weigh in until Friday afternoon. For those cutting weight, very little recovery time before finals compared to previous years and throws kids out of their routines at tournaments all year long, imo.

I like late weigh ins, cutting a lot of weights get is lame.
