4a/3a split

We did the sport a disservice splitting girls two years too soon.

A lot of these qualifiers are not very full at all.

It’s embarrassing. There are girls wrestling at state who literally didn’t win a match at the qualifier. This helps no one and diminishes the accomplishment of those girls who actually know how to wrestle.

It's not just the girls. There are boys that haven't won a match all year but are heading to the Dome as well.

It is worse than you are making it. Girls all over the state not making weight. A district qualifies four and only three show up to do what they call wrestling. Remember this quote "girls wrestling will save the sport".

I have 2 daughters: girls wrestling is in the very early stages, think of these girls as pioneers, in 10 years girls will be legitimately running moves not just head/arm an half's. 1 state is needed for the girls at this time.

Uhh that already happened . Maybe not all the masses, but there are lots of girls more skilled than some of the boys. There are plenty of not so skilled wrestlers making a trip to the dome in both sides. WIAA wants the money though, so we have all sorts of classifications/ divisions. Next few years we will add the Trans division , so at least we won’t have the dudes with Adam’s apples entering the girls division.

Not at our districts. Our was brutal at most weights. A regional tournament would help weed out the weaker ones.

I am going to state as an alternate this year. I will weigh in and wrestler, or not, but either way, I already ordered the patch for my letterman's jacket that says State Qualifier 2025! So glad they made this change.
