New 1A rankings are up going into districts

New 1A rankings are up going into districts. How about some feedback on how Mike is doing on the accuracy?

I can tell you that the speed of Mike getting the rankings updated is very good and everything is formatted right so it is easy to get posted to the website. That formatting takes a bit to get down but they all have it down now and Mike had a steep learning curve on the spreadsheet thing but that has been done and now he is in the flow.

Elma is again being ranked under monte after a 44-29 dual win? with only their #1 guys at each weight class? Elma only has 2 less people than monte does at the state qualifier.

Not sure how many times you need to hear that dual results and tournament results aren’t the same? Safe to assume you’re the same person that made the same complaint… and received the same response during tonight’s podcast. Stop sweating it, you’ll see direct tournament scoring results Saturday.

And the district results can turn out a lot different than state because of who is in the brackets. Rankings are based on the Mat Classic format of everyone in the state in that division being able to get there, not the 28 guys in a dual or the 140 wrestlers in your district. It is just math, he shouldn't sweat it if he doesn't understand. After all, he is from Elma. Just kidding.

Where did Elma go? Seemed pretty confident in dual scoring. How did that pan out in the tournament? X delivered as promised, gotta assume ”Elma” is the non-placer at 126 or the parent of the disrespectful punk at 106.

Just curious how you came to the 106 rankings. I see three state placers from last year all ranked behind an unproven wrestler. This is the only weight in all of 1A rankings ranked this way. Granted its 106 so generally there are not a lot of upperclassman at this weight but the last few years and this year included there are some returning state placers at this weight. A couple not even on the list. Even if you are going by just head to head match ups this year there is a loss against one of the wrestlers ranked below them?

Finley Eckerson beat Kaydn Cuevas-Schenk-Zillah by decision 8-7

Finley Eckerson lost to Leonel Lustre-Zillah by dec 13-11.

Eckerson beat Jordan Meadows-Elma by decision 11-7

Leonel Lustre-Zillah beat Jordan Meadows- Elma by pin 2:27

Kaydn Cuevas-Schenk-Zillah beat Leionel Lustre- Zillah 6-5

Kaydn Cuevas-Schenk-Zillah beat Jordan Meadows by dec. 9-6

I guess that's some wrestling math I wont ever understand. Everyone beat Jordan Meadows, but since Finley who lost to Lustre but beat Cuevas-Schenk who beat Lustre.....kind of a toss up 1-3

That's what makes rankings tough to do. When there is not any common opponents between the wrestlers hard to say who lands where. Which prompted me to ask the question of how it done.

Many kids will be at different weights than what is posted.

That does happens every year. It will be interesting to see the rankings next week and see who didn't hit their target, certified weight until then.
