Ranking

I noticed that in 3A, Xariel Soto is not ranked in either 157 or 165, yet he has defeated 7 of the currently ranked wrestlers between both weight classes and some of them multiple times (Wyatt Harper #4 in 157 - 3x, Brody Strandt #5 in 165, Jesse Anderson #6 in 165, Brayden Turano #7 in 165, etc.). Should he be ranked? He will likely wrestle 157 in post season.

Yes, this same year. Some last season, some in the off-season.

Plus:

Defeated Wyatt Harper (3A 157 ranked 4th) in November, Defeated Brody Strandt (3A 165 ranked 5th) this month at the Grand Morin Memorial tournament.

Not saying he shouldn't be ranked but by your post, he has beaten 2 wrestlers this season, not 7.

I agree with what you’re saying.

I was just pointing out that looking back he has beat several of them and this season he’s beat 2 top 5 wrestlers in 3A and only lost by decision 3 times so far (all three ranked top 5 in different divisions). I think he perhaps can be given a little closer consideration. Thank you for the responses!

Don’t think last year or offseason matters for rankings. Also if he is a freshmen he will prove himself soon enough. And ranking don’t matter, Tacoma dome sorts it out. Lol

Actually, off season and past seasons are taken into consideration but the current high school season has the most weight in decisions.

With that being said, I maintain that he should be currently ranked. Just keep wrestling and time will tell. I appreciate the good feedback.
