is this legit or for personal clout?

I wonder why Coach Peter never acknowledges the "not-so-good" kids. I've seen him go out of his way to ensure the successful kids get a shirt and a picture, but he never does the same for those who haven’t achieved much. It’s always the accomplished ones who get the attention, almost as if only the good kids believe in Jesus. Honest question: Can anyone name one kid he’s posted on his social media who’s a "nobody" in the game? I’ll wait.

Most kids are happy to receive the shirt (and his "message") and show their appreciation by wearing it and taking a picture, mainly because they have faith in the Lord and were raised to show gratitude. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want a free, cool shirt representing the Most High? But what they don’t realize is that every time they put on the shirt and take pictures for this guy, they’re just feeding his ego. At this point, it feels like he thinks people are representing him, not the name on the shirt.

Does he make appearances at schools with struggling programs and kids from broken homes, or just the powerhouse schools?

Someone please prove me wrong, because I want to believe this man truly means well and isn’t just in it for personal glory and satisfaction.

Not many "not-so-good" kids wrestle between March and October, so there's obviously going to be more attention on the "accomplished ones" that are still competing at Fargo, NW Regionals, FS/G State, etc..

My son first met Coach Pete several years ago, and was at that time a very average wrestler. Pete gave him the same attention as any other kid whenever he saw him. Over the years, Pete has been a huge positive influence in his life, encouraging him to pursue his Faith, cheering him on, and answering the phone anytime he needed someone to talk to.

Does that prove you wrong? Probably not, because if you were to see Pete's posts that include pictures of my kid now, you would likely consider him as one of the accomplished ones.

I would highly encourage you to seek Pete out sometime. Sit and chat with him. He is one of the most genuine and entertaining people I have had the pleasure to meet.

If that's still not enough, perhaps look in the mirror and ask yourself... "How is Coach Pete affecting my life?" Does him handing out free Jesus shirts to wrestlers negatively impact your day?

Do you know how many kids call Pete crying in the middle of the night for guidance? Kids who are suicidal! Kids who have problems with parents, athletic expectations, grades, bullies? We had a series of suicides in WA Wrestling 5 years ago. Everyone was searching for a solution. What did you do to step up? Nothing, but trying to bring s good man down. .

This question has been around for a while. Probably not worth a message board, but whatever. My only problem with his deal is that kids who dont have a good resume, if they want a shirt, they have to do something else, mostly attend one of his chapels. The big dogs don’t have to do that.

I honestly don't think he does cause my daughter has asked him for a shirt and he has kindly given her one. My daughter isn't the greatest but she is slowly growing with the sport and loves it. But I can honestly no. But again I don't know the guy personally. But he's a koo person

Coach Pete is a Solid person, just go and talk to him. I met Coach Pete 10+ years ago when he was a head coach and he was solid then as he is now. My boys got tshirts when they were young and not good at wrestling. He spreads the gospel thru wrestling, he helps kids, has an online chapel that is motivational and encouraging.

He has come to my school on many occasions and we are not one of the powerhouses.

If you have an issue with him go to the source and talk with him, I'm 💯 positive you will have a good conversation with him and get whatever questions you have answered.

Don't bash a person you don't know.....

I just graduated and when i was at state my teammate who isn't the best wanted a jesus shirt from him so i told him to go ask him and i was with him cause he wanted me to go. This kid wasn't the best he went 0-2 at state and the kid asked for a jesus shirt, coach pete asked him how he did at and then the kid said i went 0 and 2 and and almost instantly coach pete turned away and started talking to other people completely ignoring my teammate

Well I don't see why I would lie about this I was just telling my experience with coach pete. Im not saying hes a bad guy but that is my first and only impression of him.

We gotta stop eating each other up, only sport that's worse is club volleyball parents and coached...wrestling is a very close second.
