I wanted to reach out and give a couple of updates on this coming year's PAC Coast Tournament. One of the two biggest changes is that for the first time ever it will take place outside of a high school gym. We have officially secured the Clark County Event Center for the venue.
The official dates will be Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd of December. I worked with Coach Jay Covington to avoid having it land on the same weekend as Best of the West and it was squared away, but his admin threw a monkey wrench into things and forced him to move BOTW to the same weekend as PAC. He was very apologetic and he is as upstanding as they come. So no hard feelings for those of you who attend BOTW instead.
We have some exciting interests from teams from Hawaii and Alaska and we will be working to get more participation from the Oregon teams. Feel free to send my contact info to any teams not on my email thread who would like to enter.
The second of the biggest changes will be that we are bringing girls wrestling into the fold. Its a very welcome and very much deserved addition and I'm blessed to be in a position to make that decision. As a result of that, we will no longer be offering a 2nd chance tournament. We found that the participation of wrestlers who went out the first day was much less than you'd expect anyways. Sure we may lose a team or two as a result, and for those who came because of that inclusion, I wish you well and please don't hesitate to come on back if you change your mind!
Lastly, I have partnered with the Askeo International Mat club to help play a larger role in helping run the tournament, table help, and just overall more resources so that we have the manpower to keep this going as well as last year. All of the logistics will be worked out soon but one aspect that I wanted to get ahead of will be paying the entry fee prior to the tournament. All things considered with vendors, officials, etc, We will need the proceeds from entry fees to run the tournament. I know some school districts wouldn't pay until after the tournament took place but I encourage those teams to put a provision in place to set the entry fee money aside. A payment process will be in place to take most all methods of payment. I will be sending W9, flyer, and Invoices soon to help with that.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

With Hammerhead on the chopping block due to facility rental rate skyrocket, PAC Coast might be getting more South Puget and Olympic Peninsula teams making the trip.
The extra space would be nice for sure.

Hammerhead is moving forward again this year. There are only a few more items to iron out and flyers will be forthcoming.
That is fantastic news. It is a great event and Thanks for info.

Yes, we're happy, too, that even though the Kitsap County facilities people have insisted on raising the fee, we've been able to make it happen but had to adjust the entry fee.
We've used the Kitsap County Fairgrounds for years and included a girls' tournament. I hope that Jake is as successful in opening up the tournament at the Clark County facility and particularly with the inclusion of girls.

Best of the West, Hammerhead and Pac Coast on the same weekend?
What other tournaments are happening this weekend?
