Well, it's about time! Finally, we can all rest easy knowing that the color of a referee's shoe trim is no longer a threat to wrestling. What a groundbreaking and essential rule change.

Or, we could focus on the GREAT changes that were made.

6 match a day limit (was allowed in WA, but I know a lot of refs didnt even know that.

30 minute rest between matches will virtually eliminate delays due to rest time at tourneys.

The foot as a supporting point on mat…will lead to more action and scoring and eliminate confusion on OOB calls.

These are some very good changes.

What was the match a day limit before? Is there a season match count limit?

5 per day and yes there definitely is a season limit. It always rears it's ugly head during the last week or two of HS regular season duals. Team scrappers who have fought hard through the consi's during tournaments are benched to prevent hitting that limit. Or they are forced to sit out tournaments late in the regular season so they are available for league duals.

So no limit on matches per season? Don’t want kids messing up post season.

45 individual matches in the regular season.
Here is the wording on page 74 of the WIAA Handbook. Formatting is off from handbook.

44.4.0 PLAYER/MATCH LIMITATION ‐ Each and every match wrestled must count as one of the forty‐five (45) contests for the individual.
44.4.1 An individual may wrestle in up to six (6) matches per day.
44.4.2 An individual may not wrestle more than forty‐five (45) contests on sixteen (16) dates prior to any state qualifying tournament.
44.4.3 Each day of competition must count as one (1) of the 16 allowed team dates except as indicated below. Each individual is limited to the daily match limitation.
A. A two‐day wrestling tournament consisting of brackets larger than 16 individuals will count as one (1) of the 16 allowed team dates. Each individual is limited to the daily match limitation

Hate to say it, but that's a procedural rule that falls on the coaches and tournament committee to count. I certainly don't keep track of how many times each kid has wrestled! Just as it's not my responsibility to track number of outings or season match count.

However, I actually did know that the rule changed here :D

I'm encouraged, but curious how the foot as a supporting point will be interpreted by the powers that be. There are a lot of rules that take a few years to get figured out properly (remember the whole "knees on/off the mat" debacle or the "referee position starting sequence" or even "definition of foot on/over the line"?).

Hopefully they keep it simple and easy for the casual observer to understand.

Also, glad they finally stopped caring about facial hair. If someone wants a magnificently frothy beard, who am I to say no?

They can have facial hair, but are they allowed to keep it short like sand paper?

Considering there was no rule against stubble last season... yes, they can have beard stubble.
