“Chad Cate” grant bill to help college wrestling in Washington

Chad was the head coach of Sequim HS wrestling and also a local Firefighter

A college wrestling grant bill spurred by late firefighter Charles “Chad” Cate’s pleas days before he died; sailed quickly through the state Senate this week.

The grant bill is seeking $400,000 in grant funds for the 2023-25 biennium. Grant proceeds would be spent on start-up costs, equipment and student scholarships.

To help get more college wrestling opportunities for kids in Washington State

This is great. If all the people who read this board could just take 5 minutes of their day tomorrow to email their members of the house this could really do something for wrestling in Washington.

Yes, agreed! He was very passionate about this, and I know a lot of other coaches that knew him would agree too. I am glad to see this
