All-Class Final Ranking are done reflecting Mat Classic results

The All-Class rankings have been completed and posted reflecting changes based on Mat Classic results. The AC rankings reflect our estimate of what would happen if Washington had a single division tournament. Toppenish comes out on top but Orting was a little closer than I thought. Take a look at the rankings and leave your feedback. We can handle the good, the bad and the ugly so let us know what you think and why.

Much appreciation goes out to the All-Class ranker who is in his 2nd year and picking up steam. He was assisted by having Humint One review the rankings and make suggestions based on his observations. I went through the information that they both sent in, formatted the sheets and posted to the web. Looks like the 2022-23 season is a wrap.

Like them but haveing guys who took 1place at state behind guys who took 3th or 2th

Some classifications are much harder. Some kids that took 1st in one classification would lose to kids that took 3rd or 4th in another.

Not unreasonable suggestions at all but I am curious as to how you came up with those. I could certainly see Baxter as 5 but I am biased as my son is his coach.

Did you use head to head results, common opponents, major tournament titles, off season freestyle results or just gut feeling?

Looks pretty good. But missing some rankings from previous years. I'll compile what I know and email you Dave. Also, I know of one oddity, only cause I was there. But at 132, you have Rhue above Hartford, even though Hartford beat Rhue at Pac-Coast this year. Then Koyama beat Hartford at Regionals. And Rhue pinned Dickerson at the Edmonds Invite. So I see it as;

132
1-Neiwert
2-Fernandez
3-Koyama
4-Hartford
5-Rhue
6-Dickerson

Daeton Johnson a 5 in the largest classification in the state at 4A? He pinned his way to state, no one was hotter when it counted

Who did he wrestle? Anyone good? What was his season record overall? Serious questions for those not in the know.

I believe D. Johnson is right where he should be. Here is what I have for notes on that.

At Tri-State, Johnson was pinned by Kai Carson (Idaho) 3:50 in the semis, then Harding lost to Carson in the finals 2-1. Johnson lost to Benitez at Rumble in the Valley 4-2. Johnson lost to Cater at Gut Check 6-3 in the semis, and Cater lost to Zuniga 6-1 in the finals. So if you map that out, I believe the rankings fit perfectly for where they should be;
1- Zuniga
2- Cater
3- Harding
4- Benitez
5- Johnson

The only thing I can't say for sure is who the true #2 is, since Cater and Harding never faced off and didn't really have a legitimate common opponent to my knowledge.

Agreed, Wallway, Flores, and Grooms should be ahead of at least Sullivan. Sullivan keeps getting the easier side of the bracket at State and doesn’t do well at any other tough tournament. McDonald should probably be #1 at 120, 4A is tougher.

2nd Viking Invite
6th Rumble in the Valley
2022 WIAA State 2nd place
2023 WIAA State 2nd place

You said it yourself, 4A is tougher. Plus how can you factually justify Grooms being ahead of Sullivan? Grooms wrestled 113 at Gut Check and 120 at Tri-State, where Sullivan wrestled only at Tri-State at 126. Tahoma wasn't even at Gut Check.

Salguero defeated McDonald at freestyle and Greco state last year, and Orting had a dual with Sumner on January 4th this year. I think Salguero won that one, too. Yup, 4A is tougher---sometimes, and since you mentioned Tri-State, Salguero has won there twice.

What are you even talking about? No one even mentioned or argued Salguero's place on this list. He is the undisputed #1 at 120. And FYI- no where on Track does it show Salguero and McDonald ever wrestled this year. These rankings shouldn't account for any Freestyle or Greco results, especially from LAST year, these are Folkstyle rankings.

Evan Berdan has 3 losses since December 2021, all to state champions,
220 4A Jacob Erickson from Glacier Peak (2022 champ)
220 2A Sophian Hammou from N Kitsap (2023 champ)
220 1A Darrell Leslie from Toppenish (2023 champ

Berdan was unbeatable at 195 and destroyed your #2 all-class wrestler from Othello, who has 10 losses just this season.
